| This topic is about me customizing my PC (not really a mod). Hopefully it will motivate me to actually do something and provide some entertainment along the way. Also any ideas on how i could do things better are very much welcome. The goal would be to get a functional and decent looking case by the end of the year. But first, the FAIL. I got my first Water Cooling components in 2007, the goal was to make an almost silent PC without losing any performance. I bought lots of cool stuff but had no idea how to actually fit them into my case. So this is what happened. A few months later i got around to actually fitting the radiator inside the case. The problem was that i put it on the top, this left no room for the PSU. It stayed that way for 2.5 years, pic is from summer of this year. Well now i have a new Case ( Centurion 590 by Cooler Master) Because the PSU is on the bottom here, i can actually fit it and the radiator inside. But there are still many problems. The first issue is that the fans are out side the case, while the fan controller is inside (well it will go there eventually ), also the fan cables are too short. I'm hoping to get this fix done (and pics up) by Wednesday. That is if u wanna see more of this. | |

| Well it took a lot longer than i expected (it always does). But i have finally completed the fan Plug/extension/socket thingie. I had to redo it 3 times and i destroyed 1 of the fan controller channels in the process. /ExtraSadFace But enough of that, lets get started with the pics. My old case makes for a great source of metal. So here is a pic of what i will be cutting out. And here is the "Final Cut". Straight lines FTW. After a bit of filing & sanding. Whats a custom part without some black tape. (The image quality sucks, i know) Hammer time! Now for the cable. I know, i could have just bought 3 extension cables, but that would be more expensive and a lot less fun. So i decided to make my own. Getting started. Wires with pins attached & plugs. Sleeving & Heat-shrink tubing added. Soldering plugs on the other end and adding Heat-shrink tubing The final product. Cutting a hole in to the case. Since i already had everything disassembled, i also added a Fillport. This is what looks like, gluing the connectors in place wasn't really an option. The top of the case in its finished form, i tried to sort out the cables as well. | |

| I haven't made much progress since my last post , things are getting a bit difficult now. But one thing that i did manage is, mounting the pump so that it doesn't make too much noise. The new drive bay module with pre-drilled holes. All of which are in the wrong place or are the wrong size So i took the old drive bay module and attached it to the single slot brive bay, of the new case. No more unnecessary vibration & noise. | |

| Last week i finally got around to fixing one the biggest problems, the HDD-s. Even though my HDD-s are 2.5" in size... ...They still wouldn't fit here. So i took some 2.5" - 3.5" brackets... ...And turned them the other way. No more hanging around. I also got some new goodies, will post details later. Next on the list: Improving the water loop fill procedure, (Re)painting the case. | |
